Transfer Letter

Here are excerpts from Justin’s most recent letter—what he’s calling a transfer letter.

Transfer: Sep-Nov 2009

Companion: Elder Jimenez

Area: Parque Chacabuco

Favorite Scripture: Alma 26:12

Spanish word of the transfer: Milagro (miracle)

Trivia: There aren’t any stop signs in Argentina (or like one in a city). People just honk at the intersections to let others know they are coming.

First Timers: Eating asado, getting sick, using the bidet, baptizing, and studying with the mission president.

Favorite Spiritual Experience: We were walking in the Villa and a lady named Wendy stopped us and told us she used to listen to the missionaries in Bolivia! We invited her to a Mother’s Day party at the church and she came. Three weeks later she and her two kids were baptized, and I baptized Juan (my first baptism). The Spirit was super strong and this family was for sure a miracle send from God. When Juan was confirmed, he was promised that if he stayed faithful, he would serve a mission.

Favorite Funny Experience: I was on exchanges with another elder, Elder Cano from Argentina. We were in the house of a recent convert, waiting for him to finish talking with a neighbor. As we were waiting, the member’s dog peed all over Elder Cano’s bag! Haha. I could hardly teach the lesson, I was laughing so hard! But everything worked out great because the member sprayed Axe on the bag, cleaning any remnant of the pee. Instantly. Axe has that power, if you didn’t already know. Haha.
