The Long Trip To Utah

On June 9th Justin left home for the MTC, where he'll be for the next 2 months. The whole family climbed on a plane in Fayetteville, NC about 4 pm and flew to Atlanta, GA. What was supposed to be a 3-hour layover turned into 7 hours! (The flight crew assigned to our flight was stuck in DC with bad weather.) It was almost 1 am before we left Atlanta. So what did we do for 7 hours in the airport? We read stories (Justin read "Mr. Poppers Penguins" to his sisters), ate chicken tenders, played a Book of Mormon card game, played "eye-spy," and tried to sleep on the terminal chairs, of course.

The flight to Salt Lake City was uneventful. The sleep we were longing for just didn't happen on the plane, but eventually, we landed in Salt Lake around 3:30 am Utah time (5:30 am NC time!). Unfortunately, the rental car place was closed--we had to wait until 5 am to get a car, but at that point we were so tired we were starting to get goofy! There was no one in the terminal, so Nathan took out his golf clubs and he and Justin had a putting contest there in baggage claim!

Well, eventually we got our car, which was a Subaru, and we loaded up and headed south to Provo. Good thing no one was around that early in the morning to see us. A Subaru was never meant to hold 6 people and 12 pieces of luggage (including golf clubs) but we made it happen! Quite a sight!

About 6:30 am we arrived in Provo!!!
